Welcome

The Fort Peck Reservation is home to two separate American Indian nations, each composed of numerous bands and divisions.

The Sioux divisions
of Sisseton, Wahpetons,
the Yanktonais, and the Teton Hunkpapa are all represented.

The Assiniboine bands of Canoe Paddler and Red Bottom are represented.

The Fort Peck Reservation homelands are located in the northeast corner of Montana. There are an estimated 11,786 enrolled tribal members, of whom approximately 6,000 reside on or near the Reservation.

The Tribal Executive Board (TEB), comprised of fifteen enrolled members of the Fort Peck Tribes, is the governing body of the reservation. The TEB is comprised of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Sergeant-at-Arms, and twelve voting members. All members of the governing body are elected at large every two years.

The Fort Peck Assiniboine & Sioux Tribes has worked diligently to achieve a significant level of self-sufficiency and a meaningful level of self-determination. We utilize our resources to first and foremost meet our responsibilities to our Tribal membership. All internal infrastructure, including, but not limited to housing, roads, water and sewer systems, and essential services to individuals regarding education, health, and welfare are met by Tribal resources.

When our needs are met, we have the good fortune to assist others. Thus, the Veterans, Elders & Youth - VEY Donations line item was created.

The Fort Peck Tribes understands the importance of maintaining a supportive effort in assisting the Tribally Enrolled Veteran’s, Elders, and Youth of our reservation and is continuing its efforts to create a sound formalized structure which will assist financially when all other attempts to gain financial assistance have been exhausted.
